This notice covers our main website, bladesystems.com, and the separate public newsletter reader at news.bladesystems.com. Their storage and measurement features differ. For how Bladesystems, Inc. handles personal information, see our Privacy Policy.
What these technologies do
Cookies are small files a website asks a browser to save. Local and session storage let website code keep information in your browser. Web beacons are small images, often in emails, that can record when content is opened.
Main-website code and hosting
Our currently published main-website code at bladesystems.com does not set cookies or save information in local or session storage. It does not configure advertising, analytics, social-media tracking or session-replay scripts or pixels. Form entries and guided-assistant answers are held in page memory. This statement is limited to the main website: the newsletter reader uses local storage and view-count beacons as described below.
Cloudflare hosts and protects the main website. Its security or traffic-management features may set cookies when applied to your request. These are separate from cookies set by our own code; their presence can depend on the features in use and the request. See Cloudflare's cookie documentation. The main website does not currently provide a cookie banner or preference center.
Public newsletter reader storage and measurement
The public reader at news.bladesystems.com uses local storage, including these keys:
mailcheap:subscribed:<slug>remembers a newsletter signup or subscription prompt state in that browser. It is not independent proof of a confirmed subscription.mailcheap:subscribe-snoozed:<slug>remembers when a signup prompt was postponed.mailcheap:viewed:<issueId>records a recent issue view to limit repeated view counting in the same browser.
Here, slug identifies the newsletter and issueId identifies an issue. Issue pages send a beacon or equivalent request to /api/views on the reader to update aggregate readership counts. The reader therefore uses browser storage and first-party view measurement; it is not covered by the main website's no-storage or no-analytics description. These reader features can operate while newsletter email sending is disabled.
Main-website campaign parameters and spam checks
Campaign parameters such as utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content and utm_term can be carried in same-site page links and recorded with an inquiry. They are not saved in cookies or browser storage. Hidden form fields, and a homepage display timestamp, help detect automated submissions.
Request information and fonts
The main website and Cloudflare receive IP addresses and standard browser request information to deliver pages, apply submission limits and protect the website. Technical logs and internal inquiry emails may retain request information as described in our Privacy Policy. Separately, public-reader requests provide IP addresses and standard browser request information; the reader uses IP addresses to rate-limit views and signups.
Normal main-website pages use a font file hosted on the main website. Its page-not-found (404) page currently requests fonts from Google's servers at fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Those requests disclose your IP address and standard browser request information to Google.
Email tracking
The main website's form-to-newsletter integration is not active, but the separate public reader accepts pending signups. Newsletter email sending is currently disabled; a signup while sending is disabled saves a pending record without queuing a confirmation email. That does not disable reader storage or view beacons.
The newsletter system supports open-tracking images and click-tracking links in messages. Associated information can include a message identifier, browser or device information and a country derived from an IP address. Email engagement events are separate from reader page views. Browser cookie choices do not control server-side email tracking, message delivery events or unsubscribe and suppression records.
Your choices
Browser settings usually let you block or delete cookies and site data, including the reader's local storage. Clearing those entries can make signup prompts reappear or allow a view to be counted again; it does not unsubscribe you, delete a pending signup or change server-side suppression records. Browser or email-app settings may let you block remote images. Those choices do not delete server logs or information you already submitted. Use a newsletter unsubscribe link or contact us about withdrawing a signup or your information.
